  • Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the US - The South Korean Embassy's official website. Has links to Embassies and Consulates worldwide, in addition to business, cultural, political, and travel information.

  • Korea-US Science Cooperation Center (KUSCO) - A nonprofit organization based in Vienna (VA) "to foster cooperative efforts in science and technology between Korea and the United States...[by] promoting Korean research and development (R&D) and in enhancing cooperation with U.S. laboratories."

  • Korean American Coalition (KAC) - A nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles "to facilitate the Korean American community's participation in civic, legislative, and political affairs so that it can contribute to and become an integral part of the larger American society."

  • Korean American Coalition, D.C. (KAC-DC) - The Washington, D.C. chapter of the Korean American Coalition.

  • Korean American Coalition, San Francisco (KAC-SF) - The San Francisco chapter of the Korean American Coalition.

  • Korean American Political Action Committee (KAPAC) - "To financially and logistically help elect federal and state candidates who promote the interests of Korean Americans, to preserve the free speech rights in political campaigns, and to educate the public about campaign finance."

  • Korean American Scholarship Foundation (KASF) - A nonprofit organization which "seeks to assist Korean American Students in pursuit of academic and personal achievement, to encourage community and civic service as an integral part of leadership development, and to nurture a sense of pride and confidence in Korean cultural heritage and tradition."

  • Korean Community Counseling Center (KCCC) - Founded in the footsteps of the late Tai-Young Lee, KCCC's mission is to "provide community and social services for the Korean American population in Washington State. ...empowering Korean American youth and families through individual counseling, education and other services." (Seattle, WA)

  • Korean Womens Association (KWA) - A nonprofit social service organization to "provide multilingual services to Asian to Pacific Island Communities in Pierce, Thurston & South King Counties. It serves the low income and elderly population and provides resources for other agencies as it purtains to ethnic minority issues." (Tacoma, WA)

  • Korean Youth and Community Center (KYCC) - A nonprofit organization "to serve the evolving needs of the Korean American population in the Greater Los Angeles area, as well as the multiethnic Koreatown community."

  • NAKASEC - Based in Flushing (NY), National Korean American Service & Education Consortium, Inc. "is a national organization that seeks to empower the Korean American community through education and advocacy."

Culture and History

  • Centennial of Korean Immigration to the United States - THE organization "to plan, organize, fund, and publicize the celebratory activities marking the 100th anniversary of Korean immigration."

  • Center for Korean American Culture - A nonprofit organization based in Flushing (NY) dedicated to "engender within young Korean Americans a pride in their heritage and their capacity to contribute to society, to provide a cultural voice, to promote a progressive awareness, amongst Korean Americans and within non-Korean communities, of Korean America."

  • Global Korean Network's Dosan Page - A very useful site about Korean independence movement leader Ahn, Ch'ang-Ho.

  • Journal of Hamel and Korea, The - The English translation of Dutch explorer Hendrik Hamel's journal, "the discoverer of Korea."

  • KoreAM Institute and KoreAM Foundation - Nonprofit organizations that promote cultural awareness and education about, and on behalf of, Koreans and Korean Americans. Provides educational and leadership programs for young Korean Americans and Korean adoptive families. Based in Philadelphia.

  • The Korea Society - "The leading organization in the United States dedicated expressly to the promotion of greater awareness, understanding and cooperation between the United States and Korea in all areas of vital interest to the peoples of both countries."

  • Korean American Museum (KAM) - A nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles dedicated "to preserve Korean American history and culture from the unique and relevant perspective of Korean Americans."

  • Korean History Project: "Korea in the Eye of the Tiger" - An online history of Korea. "The Korean History Project, Incorporated, is an [nonprofit] educational organization dedicated to the research, production and online publication of Korean and East Asian history, to promoting history education and cultural understanding, and to making this valuable history resource freely accessible to a worldwide audience. "

  • Korean War Veterans National Museum & Library - A nonprofit organization formed "to preserve a record of the participation of the United States in the Korean War, to educate and disseminate information to the general public about the Korean War era and the country of South Korea, and to promote good relations and friendship among Korean War veterans, the citizens of other United Nations allies who participated in the Korean War, and the people of South Korea."

  • Philip Ahn Admiration Society - The official website for information about the actor, Philip Ahn, by his nephew, Philip Ahn Cuddy.

  • Silence Broken - Dai Sil Kim-Gibson's website and documentary on the travails of the Korean Comfort women.

  • The Comfort Women Project -Chunghee Soh's website "to gather, analyze, and attempt to understand as much information as is possible about comfort women and attitudes toward comfort women before time precludes the possibility of conversing with the principals, and before history is too-much sifted through the sieve of selective memory."

  • Still Present Pasts - An interactive multimedia exhibit by Korean Americans about the Korean War, whereby audiences are drawn into an interactive dialogue.

  • UCR's Korean Stereographs - An online Collection of 44 stereographs of Korea, 1900-1905, in memory of Dosan Ahn Chang Ho at the University of California, Riverside/Museum of Photography.

Asian/Asian American Community Organizations

  • Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) - "To build a politically empowered Asian Pacific American (APA) population, to be the political pipeline for Asian Pacific Americans to enter and advance into elected office and to act as a resource to Congress about the APA community."

  • Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) - AAJA seeks to "increase employment of Asian American print and broadcast journalists, assist high school and college students pursuing journalism careers, encourage fair, sensitive and accurate news coverage of Asian American issues, and provide support for Asian American journalists."

  • Asian American Writers' Workshop - "The premiere resource for writers, readers and publishers on literature written by Americans of Asian descent. ...a nonprofit organization dedicated to the creation, development, publication and dissemination of Asian American literature."

  • Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS) - Based in Seattle, ACRS seeks "To promote the social, emotional and economic well being and empowerment of Asian and Pacific Islander individuals, families and communities by providing and advocating for innovative community-based multilingual and multicultural services."

  • Asian Pacific American Network (APANET) - "APAnet is a communications and information technology resource provider empowering community based organizations" with information and communications technology "resulting in improved delivery of human services to the Asian/Pacific Islander (API) community."

  • Conference of Asian Pacific American Leadership (CAPAL) - A nonprofit organization "to promote APA interests and success in public sector careers, to provide information and education on policy issues affecting the APA community, and to serve the APA community at large."

  • Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) - "the nation's oldest and largest Asian American civil rights organization, was founded in 1929 to address issues of discrimination targeted specifically at persons of Japanese ancestry residing in the United States. ...whose ongoing mission is to secure and maintain the civil rights of Japanese Americans and all others who are victimized by injustice and prejudice."

  • Model Minority - A free online publication "to educate, inform, provoke, and inspire movements by individuals and groups toward Asian American empowerment."
  • National Asian American Student Conference (NAAScon) - "Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) students from all ethnic groups, regions, school systems, and types and levels of participation will come together to network, socialize, empower each other and themselves, perform, dialogue, organize campaigns and projects, educate, to DEMONSTRATE OUR POWER, to CREATE CHANGE, and to REPRESENT ASIAN AMERICA."

  • National Asian American Telecommunications Association (NAATA) - A nonprofit organization, which"Through film, video, radio and new technologies...aims to promote better understanding of the Asian Pacific American experience to the broadest audience possible."

  • National Filipino American Youth Association (NFAYA) - "a non-profit organization that strives to...provide the youth in America with as much access to available resources and training that will benefit them in life."

  • Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA) - A "national non-profit, non-partisan advocacy organization of concerned Chinese Americans. OCA is dedicated to securing the rights of Chinese American and Asian American citizens and permanent residents through legislative and policy initiatives at all levels of the government."

  • President's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders - Established by President Clinton through Executive Order 13125 to advise the President on ways to improve quality of life and community involvement, and ways to foster research and data on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

  • Washington State Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs (CAPAA) - A state agency originally established in 1972 "To improve the well-being of Asian Pacific Americans (APAs) by insuring their access to participation in the fields of government, business, education, and other areas. (RCW 43.117.110)"

  • Chinese Historical and Cultural Project (CHCP) - "A nonprofit organization to promote and preserve Chinese American and Chinese history and culture through community outreach activities."

  • Chinese Historical Society of Southern California (CHSSC) -A nonprofit organization "to discover and recognize our pioneers and their history. We aim to increase awareness of Chinese American heritage through public programs, education and research."

  • Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS) - A nonprofit organization "to promote understanding, education, enlightenment, appreciation and enrichment through the identification, gathering, preservation and dissemination of the history and culture of Filipino Americans in the United States." (Seattle, WA)

  • Japanese American National Museum (JANM) - A nonprofit organization "to make known the Japanese American experience as an integral part of our nation's heritage in order to improve understanding and appreciation for America's ethnic and cultural diversity."

  • KAYA - A nonprofit publisher of Asian diasporic literature and culture. "Kaya's books range from individual volumes by innovative poets and fiction writers to comprehensive anthologies to its annual publication of Asian diasporic culture and society, MUAE."

  • Smithsonian Institution's Asian Pacific American Program - "Provides vision, leadership and support for all Asian Pacific American (APA) activities at the Smithsonian while at the same time, serving as liaison to APA communities."

  • National Japanese American Historical Society (NJAHS) - A nonprofit organization "dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and dissemination of materials relating to the history and culture of Japanese Americans."

  • Wing Luke Asian Museum, The - Named after the first Asian American elected official in the Pacific Northwest, "it is the only pan-Asian American museum in the United States devoted to the collection, preservation and display of Asian Pacific American culture, history and art with projects, inspired and created by community members," in Seattle.
